IT'S A STORY.
After more than 15 years of photographing weddings, I've learned that the hardest part isn't knowing what to photograph. It's knowing what matters.
A wedding gives you hundreds of moments, thousands of frames, different people, different light, different locations and very little control over what happens next. Your job isn't to photograph everything. It's to see what matters, anticipate what might happen, and build a visual story from it.
This isn't a workshop about following a shot list. It's about learning how to see a wedding differently.
THIS IS NOT ANOTHER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP.
You won't spend the day memorizing poses.
You won't get a list of "must-have" wedding photographs.
We won't build the workshop around camera settings, gear or artificial scenarios.
Instead, we'll look at what happens between the obvious moments.
The anticipation before the ceremony.
A gesture.
A look.
A relationship.
A quiet moment in a crowded room.
The way light falls on someone.
The photograph you almost didn't take.
Because sometimes the most important photograph of the day isn't the one everyone was waiting for.

I've spent more than 14 years photographing weddings.
I've worked in different environments, different lighting conditions, different cultures, different kinds of weddings and with very different people.
And over time, I've become less interested in controlling the wedding and more interested in observing it.

Not how to make every wedding look the same.
How to find what makes each wedding different.

We'll look at anticipation, gestures, relationships, light, movement, silence, distance and the small interactions that can become important parts of the story.

A photograph is not only about what is inside the frame.
It's also about where you stand.
How close you are.
What you leave out.
When you press the shutter.
And why you chose that particular moment.
We'll explore how these decisions change the meaning of a wedding photograph.

Wedding photography is often described as "capturing moments."
But great storytelling is not only about reacting quickly.
It's also about anticipating.
Reading people.
Understanding what is about to happen.
And sometimes doing absolutely nothing.
We'll work on developing that awareness.

We'll look at a wedding not as a collection of individual photographs, but as a sequence.
How does a story begin?
What establishes the place?
Where do we introduce the people?
When should we show the couple?
Where do details belong?
How do we create rhythm?
When should we stay quiet?
When should we get closer?
And how do we know when the story is complete?
A great wedding gallery isn't necessarily the one with the most spectacular photographs.
It's the one where the photographs belong together.

I don't use flash as a default solution.
I don't believe every couple needs to be posed.
I don't believe every wedding needs the same photographs.
I don't work from a fixed formula.
And I don't think wedding photography should be about reproducing what is currently popular.
My approach is based on observation, available light, anticipation, context and real interaction.
The goal is not to make every wedding look like my photographs.
The goal is to help you understand what makes your photographs yours.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring the camera and lenses you normally use for weddings.
There is no required or "ultimate" wedding photography setup.
Bring the equipment you know.
If you have a second camera, bring it.
Bring your smartphone as well.
You may also want to bring:
spare batteries
your favourite lens
a laptop, if we'll be reviewing your own work
a selection of your wedding photographs
Most importantly:
Bring photographs.
Bring questions.
Bring the things you're struggling with.
BEFORE THE WORKSHOP
To make the day as personal as possible, I'd like you to bring a small selection of your own wedding photographs.
Not necessarily your best photographs.
Bring photographs you're unsure about.
Photographs you love but don't know why.
Photographs that didn't work.
Photographs that almost worked.
We'll use them as a starting point for understanding your own visual decisions.
